Farewell of David Kidinda our Fieldco

Last week we had to say goodbye, farewell to our Fieldco David from Congo. After nine months his mission came to an end and he is going back to Congo to meet up again with his wife and 4 children. Must say he had quite an entertaining mission in Port Sudan. After quite a difficult start belive that in the last months the project on FGM finally came to fruitition. Operating in an environment where the local community and authorities not always walk hand in hand or even talk the same language made it not easy to get things moving. Also by showing we are not a cash cow apparently did not make us friends everywhere. What's new. Anyway belive all the efforts finally came together and he was on the one end happy to go but on the other hand he will not see the final result of the efforts. That's apparently MSF life.
Anyway we had a nice barbecue on the roof of our house followed with a traditional karoake context for our international friends. Besides that we took our staff for a farewell drink at the " Beach " and of course at our favourite Icecream place.
David many thanks for your dedication, professionalism and humor...glad we had some fun too..

as I can see you have nice time there..you managed with your photos to
make feel nostalgy for Port Sudan!
but it is OK.I have also quite nice time in Greece.we are working in a
refuggee camp.yes inside Greece..so after working hard during the day,
if we still have some energy we can wander around..

He broertje hier alles goed, hoop met jou ook.Ik ben met Ali naar Terschelling geweest. Hier was het meivacantie.Met Jack en de kids ook oke.
30 mei gaan we met zn allen naar Terschelling(boerderij Hessel) de fotos volgen wel.

Hoi Hans, Hoe gaat tie daar? Op de polo bbq hebben we het nog uitgebreid over je gehad allen hebben veel bewondering voor je. Morgen vertrekken we samen met de camper naar Kroatie. Pubermeiden zijn denk ik! veilig ondergebracht. EK zeilen ben benieuwd of we de prijzenkast weer kunnen gaan vullen hm hm!!. Als het nu niet is dan vast later want Frank heeft bedacht dat hij toe is aan een nieuwe boot. Heeft deze ook inmiddels gekocht en wordt nu verscheept dus wie weet!! Wens je alle goeds gr van ons

Happy to read all the comments on my mission in PS from your blog. Thank you very much, I see at which point we could still work together but...
Arrived safely in Belgium and started with my debriefing but not finished yet. I have to go back on monday to discuss with the Reproductive Health Unit.
Say hello to Trine, Caroline and all the national staff (Dr Mustafa, Dr Massara..., it was a big pleasure to work with all of them.
Don't miss to send me pictures on the progress of the project.

alles goed daar, bij ons wel . ja we gaan vanavond al weg naar terschelling sven en ik, want we hebben ook nog wat zakelijk te regelen en dan morgen boodschappen doen etc.
hee denk goed om je zlef. hier alles oke, met kids en sita en met opa e oma ook, die gaan vaanvond ook al naar terschelling. paul
