Electricity problems

Summer is approaching - temperatures over 45C and high humidity - and we are facing irregular / regular power cuts both at our base and at the tagadom hospital. At the base not a real issue as we do have a very good generator as back up. The same goes for the warehouse where we store our medical supplies. However for the Tagadom Hospital it is a different issue. The existing generators are 10 year old, 2 stroke engines who generate only 7.5 kva which is just enough for the lights to be switched on and only when we switched to low watt high output bulbs. 14watts provides light of 40 and with a long operational life. The last week was a pain as the old generators needed quite some maintenance and fortunately found a company/people who do a good job. actually when i arrived here there was a big white elepahnt of a generator standing at the hospital. A gift from the Red Sea Corporation but due to its size 135Kva it had been standing there idle for over 6-9 months even after agreement to change this big white elepahnt for a new one. so in april we decided on a game plan to solve this issue. Talk to the donor, Ministry of Health and National Insurance and see what happened. The white elepahant of 135Kva was replaced by a yellow tiger of 80Kva which would be sufficient to cater for the hospital needs even when the new Operation Theatre would be opened in July. Now the only thing is that we need to do a completer rewiring of the hospital to ensure that the new power source will not blow up the switchboards, the equipment, bulbs, you name it. The plan is to have this fixed mid june so we will have a more relaxed situation at the hospital with a more stable supply of electrity.
