17 December 2008 | Soedan, Khartoem

Today i will leave from Khartoum via Europe back to home in Singapore. On the one hand happy but on the other hand sad. Happy because it is time to be with my wife again, live in our new appartment, go to starbucks, have a beer, some pepper and curry crab you name it. Sad because of the work done and still what is on the list to do, but than it is never finished. Sad also i had to leave behind very, nice, warm and friendly people. Liviing in a country like Sudan is not easy , but the people still want to make the best of it. So i have very fond and good memories of the local staff of MSF. Hardworking, dedicated, open minded, smart as they have to work with an ongoing incoming flow and changing of expat staff. We normally forget this but the pressure for them is there to. How do you adjust to a new persons(s) every 2-6 months. They do so, my admiration goes out to them. Icram, Hunaida, Ahmed and last but not least Inass you were my logadminfin team; thanks for all the joy, fun, laughter, long hours, discussions and respect in dealing with each other and the tasks at hand. You know my motto:life is too short so you have make the best out of it. May your dreams come true as you deserve it.

Hans
